Mount Notre Dame Welcomes Home UConn Star Mel Thomas with Book Signing

On Monday, December 22, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. in the Mount Notre Dame Student Activities Center, MND welcomed back Mel Thomas ’04 for a book signing of her new book Heart of a Husky.

Before she was a Husky, Thomas was a Mount Notre Dame Cougar and played an integral part in the beginning of MND’s dominance in basketball. Mount Notre Dame Athletic Director Mark Schenkel is eager to have Mel walk the halls of MND again. “Mel made a name for herself at Connecticut and everyone in the MND community is very proud of her. It will be fun having Mel back at MND and sharing some of her stories of her time at UConn.”

Heart of a Husky details Thomas’ experience as one of the most competitive women’s basketball players in the history of the University of Connecticut. It is a backstage pass to the Husky’s trip to the Final Four, as well as Thomas’ experiences as a student-athlete with the goal of winning a National Championship.

Thomas will continue her basketball career, playing professional ball in Ireland.
