MND’S Grande Gala “Pearl of the Orient” a Grande Success!

Mount Notre Dame’s Grande Gala Chair Alison Warning and Co-Chair Heidi Keppler are grateful to the many volunteers who stepped up to chair a committee for MND’s annual dinner auction. Decorations Chairperson Becky Francois of West Chester, says, “Our volunteers gathered every Saturday during January and February to help create the beautiful decorations. This process is such a huge undertaking, but the results are incredible!” The work of Becky and her team is truly amazing! The decorations team is Rosanne Hendrixson of Loveland, Judy Deutsch of West Chester, Kim Drumm of West Chester and Suzanne Smith of Loveland.

This year’s Asian theme, “Pearl of the Orient,” whisked guests away to the Far East for an evening of amazing festivities. When guests arrived at the Gala this year, they were welcomed by a larger than life Geisha and Buddha as you make your way up the stairs. Chinese characters of welcome and paper lanterns set the mood as you entered our vestibule and coat-check. This year, however, MND’s foyer’s true star was our sesquicentennial celebration. The fact that Mount Notre Dame has been challenging and empowering young women for 150 years is an achievement of which the school is extremely proud and is showcased as you enter the building.

Once you enter what is known as the Athletic Foyer, guests were in the Gala’s raffle headquarters. Pearls, pearls and more pearls! The Pearl Market was the place to be for selecting your price range and your “pearl in poke” jewelry.

The tuition raffle was in front of the large ornamental fans, graceful in appearance and well-known throughout the Orient.

Arriving in the Activities Foyer, guests saw the Chinese Take-Away where a selection guarantees a take-away surprise for those participating.

The 11th Anniversary of the Grande Gala, held March 6, 2010, relies heavily on volunteers, sponsors, current and past parents, alumnae and business community support. “Without their enormous energy and generosity of time, talent and treasure, the Grande Gala would not be possible,” said Mrs. Jackie Siders, MND’s Director of the Grande Gala. “MND is grateful for everyone who makes this event truly special.”
