MND Dancers Selected to Perform in NYC's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
The Mount Notre Dame Varsity and JV dance teams recently attended an Elite dance camp sponsored by Universal Dance Association at CoCo Key Water Park and Hotel in Sharonville. This is the first year the team has attended an “Elite” camp. MND Dance Program Director, Melissa Kidd of Mason, felt the team was up to the challenge of college-level routines and welcomed the opportunity to expose the girls to master choreographers.
Senior varsity dancer, Kaitlin Kinman of Sharonville, said “The Elite Camp this year really lived up to its’ name. It was not only incredibly challenging, but was also an amazing opportunity to dance with some of the top teams in the nation.”
Once again the team performed exceptionally well, receiving a superior rating on their POM routine and qualifying for the UDA National Dance Team Championships in Orlando, Florida in February 2010.
Senior Co-captain Sarah Bitter and senior Alix Malinoff were selected as Varsity All Stars and were invited to dance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. To qualify for All Star consideration, the girls had to learn a special routine, choreograph two sections of the routine and perform the routine in front of a panel of judges. In addition, Sarah and Alix were also invited to dance during the 2010 Rome Varsity Tour where the girls will have the opportunity to perform in Rome and surrounding cities in Italy during a week-long tour over Christmas break.
