Mount Notre Dame Applauds Advanced Placement Scholars
Mount Notre Dame is proud to offer 17 Advanced Placement courses – one of the strongest AP programs in the Cincinnati metro area. As a testament to its program, MND recently learned that 21 members of the Class of 2009 and 14 members of the Class of 2010 earned Advanced Placement Scholar recognition. According to Academic Dean Mrs. Karen Day, “The success of MND’s AP Program spotlights the talent of our students and our staff. With 14 members of our current senior class already recognized as AP Scholars, it is clear that academic success is a priority at MND.”
New in 2009-2010 to MND’s AP Program is Advanced Placement Human Geography. This course is available to all students but is geared toward the freshmen members of MND’s Billiart Scholar Honors Program. MND is one of only a few schools, public or private, in the city to offer this AP course. Furthermore, MND is the only all-girls’ school in Cincinnati to offer an Advanced Placement course to freshmen.
Besides speaking to the quality of Mount Notre Dame’s challenging academic program, MND’s solid Advanced Placement Program provides major advantages in preparation for college. Students who take an AP course and pass the Advanced Placement exam are eligible for collegiate credit, potentially saving thousands of dollars in college tuition. Additionally, students who take AP courses in high school are better prepared for the demands of college-level academics.
The entire Mount Notre Dame community applauds the commitment to academic excellence its 35 AP Scholars have made and celebrates their achievement:
