Service Opportunities at MND

Project coordinators are now being recruited for various service projects organized through CSTAT and Caring Cougars. See Mrs. Brinkmann if you are interested in leading a project or just to volunteer.

Caring Cougars:  The "Caring Cougars Service Team"  coordinates a variety of community service activities for students to participate in throughout the year.  To be a project leader or to get involved in a project, contact Mrs. Brinkmann or any member of the Caring Cougars Service Team.  (Use the Caring Cougars bulletin board outside of the main office.)

CSTAT:  Any club, organization or individual at MND interested in projects and activities that promote social justice and Catholic Social Teaching is part of CSTAT: Catholic Social Teaching Action Team.  CSTAT meeting times are posted in the handbook.

Extra-curricular Service Clubs:
Many Clubs and Organizations embrace service as a primary focus,  including:  Peer Ministry, Mission Commission, Student Task Force, Hands Across Campus, Big Sis/L'il Sis, National Honor Society, Model UN, and Environmental Club.  Many other clubs, classes and organizations incorporate service into what they do.

Service-Learning:
An independent study opportunity is available to freshmen and sophomores. They receive recognition on their transcript for completing 30 hours of service during the year.

Juniors and seniors can take a community service class (Learning to Serve or Service Practicum) for religion credit.

There is an extensive service project as part of the sophomore religion curriculum.

Students in French IV and Spanish IV get involved in service experiences that help them learn more and teach others about foreign languages and cultures.

Check with your teachers to find out what service opportunities there may be for you.
