Summer Camps

Summer is exciting at MND! Mount Notre Dame offers an excellent summer program - something for everyone! Whether your child is a budding actress/actor or dancer, wants to get a leg up on preparing for the High School Placement Test, or wants to develop her athletic skills, MND has a camp! Theatre Prep, Summer Food and Fun, Engineering in the Sun, Instrumental Music and MND Theatre Prep Camp are five opportunities open to boys as well as girls. All other camps are for girls only.

Mount Notre Dame reserves the right to limit camp size and to cancel camps as deemed appropriate.

If MND must cancel a camp, registrants will be notified and will receive a refund. In all other cases, registrations are final and no refunds will be given. See the camp descriptions below for details.

Basketball Camp

June 28 - 29, 2017

Description
Mount Notre Dame Basketball camps are run by MND’s Head Varsity Coach, Scott Rogers. Dr. Rogers’ MND teams are consecutive sectional champions. He has taken MND to the Division I State Championship three years and won two of the three. Basic skills such as shooting, passing, ball handling, footwork and defense will be covered on a daily basis.Team defense and offense will also be taught at camp. Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt.Registration needs to be completed by June 17th in order guarantee the camper’s shirt size.

Limit of 50 girls per session.

Elite Basketball Camp

Camp 03
: Grades 7-8 | 9 am - 1 pm

Description

Mt. Notre Dame Varsity Basketball Coach, Scott Rogers will run the Elite Basketball Camp. The camp is for the skilled basketball player. This will be a complete camp that will focus on conditioning, shooting, ball handling and all aspects of the game. Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt.Registration needs to be completed by June 17th in order guarantee the camper’s shirt size.

Limit of 50 girls for this session.

Incoming Freshman Basketball Camp

Description
The Incoming Freshman Basketball Camp is training designed for incoming freshmen (Class of 2021) who are interested in playing basketball in high school. Mount Notre Dame Varsity Basketball Coach Scott Rogers and Freshman Basketball Coach Grayson FitzHugh will run the camp. They will be teaching skills, techniques and strategies needed to be successful at the high school level. Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt.

Incoming Freshman Volleyball Camp

July 5 - 7, 2017

Incoming Freshman | 6 pm - 9 pm

Description
MND will have a volleyball camp for incoming freshman. Head Volleyball Coach Joe Burke and Head Freshman Coach Tom Broe will run this camp. It is designed for the athlete who is trying out for a high school volleyball team. The player does not have to be coming to MND to attend the camp. This camp will focus on the fundamental skills of volleyball. It will also prepare the athlete for the upcoming high school tryouts. It is geared toward the serious volleyball player. We will be working the athletes hard and they will be participating in high school drills. It is a great experience to have before tryouts. Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt.

Description

MND Varsity Head Coach Joe Burke will run the volleyball camps. The camps will teach fundamental skills of volleyball, including passing, setting, serving, defense, blocking and attacking. Team offense and defense, including 4-2, 5-1, and 6-2 offenses and perimeter and setter-up defenses will be taught. The camps also include fun activities such as Bad Hair Day, Mismatch Day, Spirit Day and Team Competition Day. Awards are given out for the camp all-star and the camp’s best attitude. There are also passing and serving competitions on a daily basis. Each player will receive a camp T-shirt.

No refunds for cancellations.

*Please note that 5th-6th and 7th-8th grade camps will run Monday through Thursday.

Lacrosse Camp

Description
This camp is for girls of all skill levels interested in lacrosse. MND coaches and student assistants will focus on the fundamentals and technical skills needed to progress to a competitive level. Skills include: catching, throwing, ground balls, shooting, footwork, and the mental game of lacrosse. Included in the camp are fun activities, awards, and competition every day, each camper will receive a camp T-shirt.

Description
Have you ever wanted to sing, dance, or act? Here’s your opportunity! During this camp you will learn an entire show (with costumes and sets) and perform it for friends and family during two evening performances on Friday. Students will sing, dance, act, learn improv techniques and many other fun skills! Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt. This year's productions are Disney's Aladdin KIDS (Gr. 3-5) and DreamWorks Madagascar, A Musical Adventure Jr. (Gr. 6-8). If your child is looking for a way to get on stage, meet some new friends and sing their day away, then this is the camp for him/her. Each camp is limited to 55 campers per session.

Dance Camp

July 24 - 28, 2017
Cost $125 per camper

Location: Mount Notre Dame Gym

Camp 24: Grades K-8 | 9 am - 2 pm

Description

Kindergarten to Grade 5: Fun themes and games will be incorporated into each day of the camp. Girls will learn dance technique and three routines in the styles of pom, hip hop, and jazz.

Grades 6-8: Dancers will be participating in our High School Dance Team Prep Camp. Dancers will work on technique and challenging routines in the styles of pom, jazz, and hip hop. Themes and other fun activities will be incorporated into each day of camp.

Camp will conclude with a combined performance for family members at 1 pm on Friday.

NEWLY REVAMPED HSPT PREP COURSE! Two of MND's stellar faculty, Ms. Paula Schute and Mr. Ben Hunt, will teach 8th grade girls how to be more confident and prepared for the High School Placement Test (HSPT). During the four-day collaborative course, students will review the test design, learn general standardized test-taking strategies, and explore the test content in an interactive, energetic classroom environment. On the last day, students will take a full-length graded practice test. This camp includes a FREE Refresher Course on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 9:00 – 11:30 am (Available to any student who completed an HSPT Prep Class at MND.)

HSPT Practice Test Only

October 28, 2017

Camp 32: 8 am - Noon

Description
All of the HSPT strategy classes include a full-length practice test at the end of each session. However, students may benefit from an additional practice test opportunity. All 8th graders are welcome to take an additional HSPT practice test. This test will have the same format as the test given at the end of each session, but the questions will be different.This testing opportunity is an additional $25 and must be registered for separately. Students are not required to have taken a test preparation class in order to be eligible for this “test only” opportunity.

Keep Calm with Cooking & Crafts

Join us for a relaxing four days as we combine two of our favorite things, cooking and making art! We will make no bake edibles and crafts associated with relieving stress.

Description
Ever wonder how to begin building an awesome high school experience full of the types of leadership roles that make memories and impress colleges? MND’s summer leadership camp can give you a blueprint to help navigate your way through the next four years. Have fun while meeting new classmates and current MND student leaders while investigating your own leadership style. Games and activities are designed to cover the following topics: communicating with confidence, dealing with conflict in a positive manner, an introduction to personal branding. Leadership camp will also introduce the class of 2021 to the many clubs, positions, and pathways to becoming a school leader at Mount Notre Dame.

Instructor: Camp Director Mr. Van is the instructor for both Global Perspectives and Advanced Placement Human Geography. Has been serving as a dynamic educator at Mount Notre Dame for the past 8 years, and has 13 years of classroom experience. His post-college career path also included positions with the AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and National Park Service.

MNDT Theatre (MNDT) Prep Camp

Description
MNDT Prep Camp will help your actress or actor become better acquainted with the proper techniques when going into the audition room. With an emphasis both in Monologues and Songs, the actor will feel more comfortable presenting themselves in an audition. Actresses/Actors will leave the camp with a better understanding and approach towards auditioning, as well as having a proper resume, 16 Bar Cut of a musical number, and a fully understood monologue. The most difficult part of being a performer is the audition; this camp will help make that an enjoyable experience.

Princess STEM Camp

June 19-23, 2017

Description
Once upon a time, princesses were know for glitter, glitz, and glam. These days, princesses are taught to dream big, explore, invent, engineer and create. Belle, Rapunzel, Ariel, Tiana, Anna and Elsa will introduce various Science, Technology, Engineering and Math concepts to our camper princesses to show just how far a girl can dream! Princesses will work individually and together as a group to complete various challenges throughout the week based on the Princess of the Day. Each day of camp princesses will treated to a royal snack and bring home a daily craft that reflects the STEM concept of the day. Theme days are: Monday, Beauty & The Beast; Tuesday, Tangled; Wednesday, Little Mermaid; Thursday, Frozen; Friday, Princess & The Frog.

Engineering the Sun

Description
Does your 6-8 grade son or daughter enjoy exploring science and its endless discoveries? Looking for a hands-on engineering camp this summer? At MND's Engineering the Sun summer camp, participants will be immersed into a new perspective of engineering and discover the "power" within solar power. Students will learn about the sun's role as an energy source, and explore its uses by interacting with the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur's Photovoltaic Learning Lab. Throughout the week, students will hear about the Photovoltaic project, experiment with working solar panels, and complete hands-on challenges. wonder Students will discover how the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur are using solar power to change the lives of people in third world countries. The week will be packed with hands-on learning, immersive engineering, STEM-based learning, and fun!

Instrumental Music Camp at Moeller High School

Location: Moeller High School

Description
This camp is held at Moeller High School. It is open to boys and girls entering grades 6-8 who have at least one (1) year of band or private music lesson experience. Working side by side with members and staff of the Moeller/MND Band, students will prepare musical selections (both current and traditional) while learning tips, tricks, and techniques that will help them become better at their instruments. They'll learn to work as a team, discover how to practice like professionals, get their hands on some really cool technology, and put on a great show for you on Friday afternoon. Woodwind, brass, string, piano, and percussion players are all welcome.
