  • Founded in 1860 by the Sisters of Notre Dame deNamur, Mount Notre Dame is a four-year, college-preparatory high school for girls. The school is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Universities and the Ohio Catholic Schools Accrediting Association. The 2011-2012 school year marks MND’s 152nd year.
  • Mount Notre Dame’s student population is 686 young women from approximately 45 grade schools and junior high schools

Spirituality

  • St. Julie Billiart founded the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in Belgium in 1804. The charism of St. Julie and the Sisters of Notre Dame deNamur embraces the Mount Notre Dame community.
  • MND offers numerous opportunities for spiritual development and religious leadership through retreats, extra-curriculars and community service projects.
  • MND remains rooted in Catholic tradition; 90% of the student-body is Catholic.
  • A strong relationship continues to be fostered between MND and its affiliated parishes.
  • Student-led scripture and Communion services are offered daily before school. At the beginning and the end of each school day, the MND community prays together.

Academics

  • Mount Notre Dame offers rigorous Advanced Placement (AP), Honors and college-preparatory courses that meet the needs of students of varied ability levels. All programs encourage independence, creativity and curiosity, with an emphasis on inter-disciplinary learning.
  • Mount Notre Dame offers 17 Advanced Placement courses, including AP Human Geography which can be taken in the freshman year. MND also offers 22 Honors courses.
  • Mount Notre Dame's average class size is 19.
  • MND instituted a One-to-One Tablet PC Program in 2010.  Members of the Class of 2015 and 2016 are required to purchase a Tablet PC.
  • Students scoring 90% or above on the High School Placement Test (HSPT) are invited into the Billiart Scholar Honors Program. Members of the program will be enrolled in a full Honors/AP schedule for their freshman year; will participate in an accelerated standardized testing program that will expose them to the PSAT beginning in the freshman year; will receive a $1,000 scholarship; and will attend seminars dedicated to career exploration presented by women leaders from various professions.
  • In 2008, MND instituted the MAP (My Action Plan) Program – a four-year journey that guides students to become empowered young women. MAP begins prior to the freshman year by pairing each student with her individual “MAP Guide” who will support the student and her family as they transition into the Mount Notre Dame community. The student is challenged to embrace MND’s mission of graduating young women who will “live, lead and serve in an ever-changing global society.”

  • 99% of the Class of 2010 is pursuing post-secondary studies.
  • 73% of the Class of 2010 received merit-based college scholarships valued at more than $12.4 million.

Extra-Curricular Activities

  • Athletics
    • MND is a member of the Girls’ Greater Cincinnati League (GGCL).
    • MND offers 12 sports with 24 teams.
    • 49% of students are members of at least one athletic team.
    • 18 athletes from the Class of 2010 signed to continue their athletic career at the collegiate level.
  • Performing and Visual Arts
    • MND’s award-winning theatre program produces three full-length productions each school year and one full-length production in the summer that is open to all interested area high school students.
    • In 2010, MND’s production of "Steel Magnolias" received 10 CAPPIE nominations with four awards, including “Best Play.”
    • MND consistently boasts Overture Award finalists.
    • Both MND visual art students and faculty are consistently chosen to display their work in local galleries and art exhibitions.

Faculty and Administration

  • Sister Rita Sturwold, SNDdeN, CFRE was appointed MND’s first president in 2003.
  • Principal Maureen Baldock was appointed in 1990 as the first lay principal.
  • In March 2011, the Board of Trustees adopted a new leadership model.
  • In 2011, Mr. Larry Mock was appointed as Head of School and Mrs. Sparkle Worley was appointed to Executive Director.
  • A 60-member faculty provides a 15:1 student to faculty ratio.

Facilities and Resources

  • MND is conducting a comprehensive campaign to update the existing building, add-on additional academic space and provide updated athletic facilities.
  • In 2008, three parcels of land surrounding the school were purchased for future development.
  • MND subscribes to Edline – one of the leading web hosting solutions in education.
  • Every teaching classroom is outfitted with a SMARTBoard™.
  • Every teacher has been provided with a Tablet PC, and MND is a wireless facility.
  • Five MND tennis courts were constructed in the fall of 2009 in Amberley Village.
  • MND launched a new website in the spring of 2011.

Other Information

  • Busing is provided by the following school districts: Indian Hill, Kings, Loveland, Madeira, Mason, Milford, Princeton and Sycamore.
  • School hours are 7:45 a.m. – 2:40 p.m.
  • Students follow a two-day rotation schedule that models a collegiate schedule.
  • MND’s school colors are Columbia blue and white.
  • MND’s mascot is the Cougar.
  • Students can buy or “brown bag” their lunch. In addition to the daily entrée, the cafeteria offers numerous snacks, bagels and a soup and salad bar. Other menu items offered at the salad bar on a rotating basis include tacos, cold sandwiches, fajitas and potato bar. Continental breakfast items are also available after 7:15 am.
  • RISSE BROTHERS (www.rissebrothers.com) supplies the navy-blue uniform skort, as well as the white, light blue and navy polo shirts with the MND logo. Full-length and Capri-style khaki pants are also permitted. Items are available in the store located at 35 Tri-Count Parkway. In MND’s Spirit Shop, additional apparel is available. On Fridays (Spirit Days), students may wear any MND spirit-wear top.
  • MND has a black and white “dress-up uniform” that is worn on occasions that call for more formal attire – all-school Masses, formal assemblies, etc. This uniform consists of a mid-calf or full length solid black skirt or dress pants and a solid white collared, button-up blouse that sits at least six inches below the natural waistline. Black dress shoes are required. These items may be purchased at the retail store of your choice.
