Providing a challenging, college-preparatory curriculum for young women over three centuries.
Ministry & Service
Indeed someone might say, “You have faith and I have works.” Demonstrate your faith to me without works, and I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works. (James 2:16)
Mount Notre Dame offers a three-faceted approach to spiritual development: communion (prayer, sacraments, and parish relationships), contemplation (retreats), and compassion (service to the community).
A Rich Tradition
Mount Notre Dame shares the responsibility of the spiritual development of our students with their families and their parishes. The entire MND experience – academics, religious opportunities, co-curriculars and social events all reflect our Catholic heritage.
St. Julie Billiart founded the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in France in 1804. Her mission was the Catholic education of young women, for she believed that when you educated a woman, you also educated a family. Rooted in the charism and teaching of St. Julie, it is Mount Notre Dame’s mission to guide students in nurturing their relationship with God by following Christ’s example and showing compassion for others in our community.
Development and Leadership
Mount Notre Dame offers numerous opportunities for spiritual development and religious leadership. MND also nurtures the spirituality of our students through retreats, community service projects.
Strong Catholic Tradition
Ninety percent of MND’s student body is Catholic, and expressing our faith is an important part of the MND experience. Student-led Scripture and Communion services are offered daily before school, and we begin and end each school day in community prayer. We also celebrate several all-school Masses each year.
Parish Connection
One thing that sets MND apart is the strong ties we maintain with our parishes. MND students come from nearly 50 parishes. Members of MND’s Parish Council strengthen the relationship between MND and the parishes and encourage students to remain involved in their parishes.
