A question recently arose about MND’s participation in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. The issue raised was whether or not the American Cancer Society in any way supports the efforts of Planned Parenthood. Mount Notre Dame inquired about this issue to the Family Life Office of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. This is the answer we received: the archdiocese is “unaware of any concerns through the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops or the Ohio Catholic Conference in regards to raising funds for the American Cancer Society.” The Family Life office also thanked MND for our care and concern in serving those with cancer and upholding the teachings of the Church.
Based on this information from the Archdiocese, Mount Notre Dame feels confident that our participation in Relay for Life assists the American Cancer Society and does not in any way support the efforts of Planned Parenthood. MND already has 22 Relay for Lifeteams, and we are aiming for 35!
