Thinking Inside & Outside the Box

Open to all grade levels, MND participates in the Mayerson Foundation’s city-wide Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky High School Shantytown in mid-October. Through a variety of activities, students learn about homelessness in our city and nation.

Advocacy
The goal is for students to become more aware of what they can do to advocate for those who go without permanent, stable shelter. A highlight of the experience, participants also do a morning of service with Choices Café and Over-the-Rhine Community Housing.

Eye-Opening experience
Shantytown is an eye-opening couple of days that challenges the participants to truly “think outside the box” when it comes to homelessness in our city.

Furthur Opportunities
Participants are encouraged to continue their work with homelessness and affordable housing, and MND's Cougars for Affordable, Simple Housing (CASH) is an excellent place to start.
