Retreats
An Avenue for Higher Awareness
During their four years at MND, students are invited to explore their spirituality. Our retreat program is an avenue that is designed to facilitate a higher awareness of our Catholic heritage. By participating in the program, students accept the invitation to be open to God’s presence in their lives. For more information on any of MND’s retreat programs, please contact:

Freshman Retreat
The Freshman Overnight at Camp Joy is designed to welcome all freshmen into the MND community. The retreat is facilitated by upper-class leaders, MND faculty and staff and trained facilitators from Camp Joy who lead community and teamwork-based activities designed assist the students in getting to know themselves and their classmates better. More information will be given to freshmen and their parents in September.

Sophomore Retreat
The Sophomore Days of Service and Reflection focus on privilege, prejudice, inequality and stereotypes. The students are asked to consider their place as Catholic-Christians in both the MND community and the community at large. The days are facilitated by the MND Retreat Team and junior and senior leaders with assistance from teacher and parent chaperones. If you would like to help chaperone contact Ms. Katie Meyer at kmeyer@mndhs.org or 513.821.3044 x159.
2011 - 2012 Dates: During week of March 12 - 16 (To Be Determined)
Junior Retreat
Juniors can choose to attend one of four overnight retreats offered at the Bergamo Retreat Center in Dayton, OH. Students are given the opportunity to reflect upon their uniqueness, as well as the meaningful relationships in their lives and how God is actively present in those relationships. Junior Retreat is a wonderful opportunity for students to “dig a little deeper” with their faith-life and to get to know their classmates on a deeper level. This experience is facilitated by the Bergamo Youth Development Team and chaperoned by MND faculty and staff.
2011 - 2012 Dates: Aug 30-31 Oct 24-25 Jan 16-17 Mar 5-6
Senior Retreat
Seniors have the choice of attending either Kairos or ROPes. Both are three-day, two night retreats and are facilitated by a team of student-leaders and MND teachers. The team meets for six weeks to prepare and is present for three full days of active involvement on retreat.
Kairos is a time for deep reflection, relationship building, meaningful prayer and conversation about all aspects of a student’s life-journey. The 2010-2011 Kairos retreats are held at the Moye Spiritual Center in Northern Kentucky.
2011 - 2012 Dates: Sep 28-30 Feb 15-17
ROPes (Rites Of Passage) takes students to Joy Outdoor Education Center and uses the outdoors to explore their faith-journey, to build community and to discuss and reflect upon the personal challenges they face.

What Students Are Saying...
• “My faith in God hasn’t been easy for me. I have asked the obvious questions: Why did God do this to me? Why do we have to do this in order for God to love us? My experience and faith relationship with God has grown so much since my retreat experience. I have learned to see God in other people. I have learned a new meaning of prayer and worship through activities and conversation. I now think more thoroughly before I speak and I now look at people in a more compassionate light.”
• “Since retreat the main thing I am doing is not taking anything for granted, especially my parents. Retreat made me realize how blessed I truly am and I am trying to be more thankful for that.”
• “Since retreat I think about how much God can change me and how much He should be more the center of my life…I am making more of an effort to be Christian.”
• “To describe retreat, I would have to say it was fun! Before this experience, I was on the normal, teenage faith-level with God. Now I am able to see that God is in every experience and have, and it is up to me to recognize his presence.”
• “When I first signed up for the KAIROS retreat it really didn’t mean that much to me because I honestly can’t say I’m the religious type. I haven’t been to church that much and so I really wasn’t looking forward to going. But then listening to the leaders’ stories really made me think. It was one of the best and most challenging experiences of my life.”
• “KAIROS, to me, was a rejuvenating experience. Not only did it turn my life around, but I found my true-self. It brought me closer to God.”
• “My faith in God has grown stronger. I owe most of this to my retreat experience. I learned that my family is the most important thing in my life. Since I got home, I have been more appreciative of them. God has also become a much bigger part of my life. I pray every day and have a better sense of who I am.”
• “The whole retreat was filled with so much physical and spiritual light. I felt God’s presence. I feel that I was reborn. I have grown more in attitude toward my family and have written letters of gratitude for all they have done for me in my life.”
• “When I think of KAIROS, the first feeling that comes to mind is peace. I have changed my attitude towards my friends and family and I appreciate my family more now that I’ve been on KAIROS.”
