Welcome Theatre Lovers!

Mount Notre Dame Theatre (MNDT) provides a well-rounded theatrical experience for students interested in both performance and technical theatre.   We offer opportunities for students to study acting, singing, dancing, set design/construction, lighting design, sound design, properties design/creation, costume design/creation, stage management, choreography and make-up.

MNDT is an extremely inclusive program.  We encourage participation regardless of skill level and we offer the most opportunities for students to hone their craft.   MNDT’s program is designed to teach and take students to the next level.  In fact:

  • MNDT consistently receives recognition from the CAPPIE Awards (think Tony’s for high school theatre).  Recently, MNDT’s 2010 production of Steel Magnolias received 10 nominations with four wins, including Best Play.
  • MNDT currently has more than 130 students who actively participate with the company.
  • MNDT presents two musicals AND two plays during the school year.
  • MNDT presents a summer production every year that is open to ALL area high schools (both public and private).
  • MNDT members have the opportunity to teach two one-week summer camps to local grade-school students.
  • MNDT employs an adult staff of 15 members who have a combined 250 years of professional theatre experience.
  • MNDT alumnae have gone on to major in theatre at the collegiate level and have enjoyed professional success.

We believe in educating our students in all areas of theatre through practical application and hand-on experience.  We strive for our students to end their high school journey with a greater appreciation of the performing arts and with the tools they need to succeed in their goals for life after high school.

All the best,
