Theme: Getting Started

  1. Snacks - will start in the hall - you can get your snack and come in to the room
  2. Attendance - Check in with Ashley Keppler when you arrive (many were absent due to retreats and sports)
  3. Starfire girls arrived - Only 3 were there
  4. Nametag activity - everyone created a nametag
  5. Intro members - MND students and Starfire girls
  6. Intro Leaders - Exec Board and Small Group Leaders
  7. Expectations - come to meetings on time, late start meetings gives you a chance to go to other clubs, stay until the end of the meeting
  8. Format - nametags, introduce small groups and leaders, voting points for attendance/participation, bonus points each meeting by group leaders
  9. Meeting Calendar - On Website - it is your responsibility to keep track of meetings and communicate with your small group leader
  10. Overview of the Program this year - Connection to Magnified Giving
  11. Small Groups - explain "theme" for this year - ART - Visual, Music, Theatre, Dance, etc...
  12. Donation vs. Investment Activity (10 mins)

Theme: The Basics - Topics to Cover in Presentation
- What is Philanthropy?
- Who are Philanthropists?
- What are social needs?
- What are non-profit agencies?
- What is a 501(c)3?
- How do non-profits get their money?
- How do they spend their money?
- What are foundations?  How do they operate?  Family Foundation
- How do organizations and foundations communicate with each other?

Art Programs - visual arts, music, theatre, dance

Leadership Meeting - Purpose:  To Print Cover Letters and RFPs, address envelopes, and send 

  1. Finalized Lists of Agencies for each group (Grinsted)
  2. Created RFPs and cover letters.  Sent to Agencies.

  5. Letters Sent:  All letters were sent by Friday, November 4th.
