MND is pleased to announce a new endowed scholarship for its students. The Thomas Geier Literary Arts Endowed Scholarship, established by former MND faculty member Mr. Thomas Geier, is a renewable scholarship offered to an incoming freshman who has graduated from a Catholic elementary school and who excels in Literary Arts. Eighth grade students considering MND will be eligible to apply in the fall.
In his 39 years at MND, Mr. Geier served as the English Department Chair and taught a wide range of classes, including AP English, British Literature and Creative Writing. He also served as MND's Academic Dean and co-authored several plays that have been performed by the MND Theatre group.
"I am delighted that this scholarship will now be available," expressed Mr. Geier. "When I retired from teaching in 2014, I wanted to leave a legacy that would help deserving young women afford a Mount Notre Dame education. That dream is now a reality."Named, endowed scholarships provide opportunities for individuals and/or families to invest in the ministry of Catholic education while helping fund a student's tuition. A gift assists MND in shaping a strong future and helping the school meet the financial needs of a diverse student body. Continued contributions to this scholarship will ultimately increase the overall amount of the award.
Founded in 1860 by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, Mount Notre Dame educates and empowers young women to learn, live, lead and serve. With a current enrollment of approximately 675 students, MND continues to carry on a strong tradition of educational excellence, offering 20 Advanced Placement classes and 24 honors classes.
