MND held a celebration of service on May 9th to recognize the exceptional contribution that MND students made in the community during the 2016-2017 school year. The event not only recognized students who have committed themselves to service but also offered a sneak peek into MND's diverse service program for next school year.
Students submitted nominations of classmates who embody the mission of MND – to learn, live, lead and serve - and who have embraced the role of servant leaders. Those who received awards include senior Maddie Neubecker (Liberty Township), sophomores Derrya Mathis (Liberty Township) and Minh-Thu Truong (Liberty Township) and freshmen Isabella Geraci (Kenwood) and Emma Mitsch (Evendale).
"I love being involved in service at MND because it brings so many girls out of their comfort zones," expressed senior Caroline DeGroft (Mason). "This year, I had the most humbling role – Chairman on the Service Board – consisting of eight other girls that became my best friends. Seeing the changes we made in the lives of others was the biggest blessing. If it weren't for MND's service program, I wouldn't have found the happiness and passion for life that I have today."
Community service is integrated into the MND experience in such a way that every student participates in service during her four years. MND's Community Service Program provides a variety of avenues for students to engage in service, including service through clubs, immersion experiences and service-learning opportunities such as the Senior Capstone Project.
