Concerning Camps in July and August:

The safety and concern of our campers and staff is very important to us. Mount Notre Dame is currently complying with all COVID-19 safety and sanitation precautions. Specific precautions will be provided as the time of a camp draws near.  Some camps may have to be cancelled or rescheduled again based on the rules put out by the Governor and the Health Department. MND will continue to extend any refunds to families due to restrictions of COVID-19.

Upcycled art is a great way to challenge kids to use their imaginations. The beauty of upcycled art is not just keeping things from going into the garbage—it’s the triumph felt when you come up with something truly unique using your own creativity; something that is beautiful enough to be treated like priceless art.

Many of the projects are Pinterest and Etsy inspired to include making rustic looking wall art/organization pieces from old pallets or re-purposing an old picture and frame into something that could be once again be displayed in a home. This year’s camp will feature four challenging projects, including one project in which a student may bring a unique object from home to be upcycled. In addition to learning to how to look at unused items from a different perspective, students will also learn how to use a few basic tools as they create their works of art. All materials, including many vintage items necessary for the projects, will be included in the price of the camp. The final value of the upcycled items once completed makes this camp a great value!

Description
Mount Notre Dame offers a top test preparation course to prepare eighth grade girls for the Archdiocesan High School Entrance and Placement Test which is administered in November to all eighth graders applying to Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.  The Class of 2025 will be the first group of eighth graders to take the new test.  The Archdiocesan High School Entrance and Placement Test replaces the Scholastic HSPT administered in previous years.

Two stellar MND faculty members have developed an interactive and age-appropriate course to help eighth grade girls be more confident and prepared to take the high school test.  Both Ms. Paula Schute, Mathematics Department Chair and Ms. Jennifer Koutnik, Social Studies Department Chair are proven educational leaders and seasoned test prep instructors.

During the four-day collaborative course, students will learn general standardized test-taking strategies, review the test design, explore test section content and practice sample test questions in a comfortable learning environment. Each camp session is limited to 28 participants.

The course fee of $120 includes four days of instruction (a total of 8 hours), test prep materials/resources and an MND spirit item. Parents will receive a daily email summary.  A parent meeting will be offered during each session to share testing information, as well as the general testing/admission process for Catholic high schools in Cincinnati and the specific admission steps for enrollment at MND. Also included with the course is a FREE Refresher Session on Saturday, November 7, 2020 from 9:00 – 11:30 am, which is available to any student who completes a Test Prep Course at MND.

Students should bring a smart phone or Wi-Fi enabled tablet or computer to each day of the course, as interactive websites and tools will be used.
