Summer is Exciting at MND!

Summer truly is exciting at MND.  Mount Notre Dame offers an excellent summer program – something for everyone! We have over 20 different camps in a variety of different areas – sports, theatre, art, music, study skills, leadership, and many more.   Scroll down to explore all of our options.

Learn more about MND! At each Special Interest Camp there will be an opportunity for girls and parents to learn about all that a Mount Notre Dame education has to offer. Mount Notre Dame reserves the right to limit camp size and to cancel camps as deemed appropriate. If MND must cancel a camp, registrants will be notified and will receive a refund. In all other cases, registrations are final and no refunds will be given. See the camp descriptions below for details.

Health and Safety Guidelines for MND Summer Camps

We are very excited to welcome MND’s summer campers!  Summer programs, including camps, will NOT require mask-wearing. However, individuals may choose to wear a mask in any setting.  Parents/Guardians should discuss with their child their personal mask-wearing expectations. We also encourage frequent handwashing.  MND’s Maintenance will continue with sanitization and appropriate cleaning protocols during the summer.

Sports Camps

Description
MND Elite Basketball Camp is designed for the athletes who are playing competitive grade 7 or 8 basketball.  The camp is for the more experienced player who would like to take their skills to the next level and above.  Coach Rogers will teach competitive drills and games.  This camp is not for beginning players.

Description
The Incoming Freshman Basketball Camp is training designed for the incoming freshman (Class of 2026) who is interested in playing basketball in high school.  Mount Notre Dame Varsity Basketball Coach Scott Rogers and Freshman Basketball Coach Grayson FitzHugh will lead the camp.  They will teach skills, techniques and strategies needed to be successful at the high school level.  Each camper will receive a t-shirt.

Coach Rogers has coached at MND for 15 years (14 years Head Varsity Coach, 1-year Assistant Head Varsity), MND has achieved 14 GGCL championships and 5 Division 1 State championships.   All success is due to our tradition of faith, family and one big heart, our great coaches and committed players.

Coach FitzHugh has been the Freshman Head Coach for 15 seasons. His teams have won 235 games (85 percent of their games), including two undefeated seasons.

Meet on the MND Soccer Field and run in the neighborhoods and nearby parks.

Cost: $75

Description

MND’s Cross Country Program is hosting a girls-only youth camp for girls entering grades 6 though 8 this fall. The CC Camp will meet on MND’s soccer field and take full advantage of Reading’s many neighborhoods and parks located near the Mount Notre Dame campus.  The camp will be led by Varsity Head Cross Country Coach Dr. Jeff Johnson, his assistant coaches, and current and former MND cross country runners.  The camp will help girls in grades 6 – 8 improve their physical and mental approach to running while, at the same time, making sure they remember that sports should be fun. Campers should wear running clothes, running shoes, a light jacket or sweat shirt, and bring a water bottle.

Description

This camp is for girls entering grades 5 – 8 of all skill levels interested in Field Hockey.    The MND Field Hockey Coaching staff and student assistants will focus on the fundamentals and technical skills needed to progress to a competitive level. Skills include: dribbling, shooting, eliminating defenders, defense, scoring, and field vision.  Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt.

Athletes should bring shin guards (soccer shin guards are acceptable), mouth guard, and water.  Sticks will be provided at the camp.

About Coach Brandner
Coach Beth Brandner is an MND alumna and played field hockey, basketball and lacrosse.  In her field hockey career, Beth Brandner was the center back for the Cougars.  She hsa been recognized with several awards during her career at MND including 1st team Southwest Ohio Field Hockey League and MND Athlete of the Year.  Coach Brandner played on the 2004 field hockey team in the state finals.  Beth went on to Wittenberg to have a great career in field hockey and lacrosse. She returned to MND in 2010 as an assistant coach in lacrosse and field hockey.  Beth was the varsity head coach in field hockey from 2012 to 2019 and remains an assistant head coach on the varsity team.  In 2019, Beth was inducted into the MND Athletic Hall of Fame.  She is married to Kevin Brandner and has 3 young children.

Description
This camp is for girls entering grades 4 – 9 of all skill levels interested in Lacrosse. MND Head Coach Sara Kuhlman along with the Lacrosse Coaching staff and student assistants will focus on the fundamentals and technical skills needed to progress to a competitive level. Skills include: catching, throwing, ground balls, shooting, footwork, and improving lacrosse IQ. Included in the camp are fun activities, awards and competition every day. Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt.

Athletes should bring a lacrosse stick, lacrosse goggles, mouth guard, and water.

Description

Description
The Incoming Freshman Volleyball Camp is designed for the incoming freshman (Class of 2026) who is interested in trying out for a high school volleyball team.  The camper does not have to be enrolled in MND’s Class of 2026 to attend.  This camp will focus on the fundamental skills of volleyball.  It will also prepare the athlete for the upcoming high school tryouts.  It is geared toward the serious volleyball player.  Athletes will be challenged as they participate in high school level drills.  It is a great experience prior to tryouts.   Mount Notre Dame Varsity Volleyball Coach Michael Crofton and his coaching staff will lead the camp and will teach skills, techniques and strategies needed to be successful at the high school level.  Campers should bring a water bottle.   Each camper will receive a t-shirt.

Get a jump start on your Common App application! This 3 hour session is designed for MND Class of 2023 students to learn about the different sections of the Common App, and get ahead on the application process. Description
Kindergarten to Grade 5: Fun themes and games will be incorporated into each day of the camp. Girls will learn dance technique and three routines in the styles of pom, hip hop, and jazz.

Grades 6-8: Dancers will be participating in our High School Dance Team Prep Camp. Dancers will work on technique and challenging routines in the styles of pom, jazz, and hip hop. Themes and other fun activities will be incorporated into each day of camp.

Camp will include a performance in the MND gym on the last day of camp (July 29).

Description
Ever wonder how to begin building an awesome high school experience full of the types of leadership roles that make memories and impress colleges? MND’s summer leadership camp can give you a blueprint to help navigate your way through the next four years. Have fun while meeting new classmates and current MND student leaders while investigating your own leadership style. Games and activities are designed to cover the following topics: communicating with confidence, dealing with conflict in a positive manner, an introduction to personal branding. Leadership camp will also introduce the Class of 2026 to the many clubs, positions, and pathways to becoming a school leader at Mount Notre Dame.

Description
Four days of exploring the media of watercolor, tempera paint, printmaking and collage.   This is a hands-on camp. Grades 3-8 girls.  Wear clothing appropriate for creating or bring an art shirt or an apron if preferable.  Class size is limited to 16.

The High School Entrance and Placement Test for those eighth graders interested in attending a
Catholic high school in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati is
Saturday, November 19, 2022. 

HSPT Prep Courses
Under the direction of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, Catholic high schools will be administering the traditional High School Placement Test (HSPT) as the high school entrance/placement assessment in November 2022 to all interested eighth grade students who are considering the possibility of attending an area Catholic high school.  Mount Notre Dame is excited to once again offer this test prep program to eighth grade girls this summer and fall.

Girls entering 8th Grade (in August 2022)

Description
Two of MND’s stellar faculty will teach eighth grade girls how to be more confident and prepared for the High School Placement Test (HSPT). During the four-day collaborative course, students will review the test design, learn general standardized test-taking strategies, and explore the test content in an interactive, energetic classroom environment.  Following three days of instruction, students will take a full-length graded practice test on the fourth day of the camp. Students and parents will receive daily updates, and an analysis of practice test results will be provided after the test has been scored. Students must bring a smart phone or Wi-Fi enabled tablet or computer as the camp will utilize interactive websites and tools.  Fee includes textbook and MND spirit gear.  Note:  This in an in-person, on-campus course.  Summer and Fall camps also include a FREE Refresher Course
on Monday, November 14, 2022 from 4 – 6 PM (available to any student who completed an HSPT Prep Class at MND).

Color Guard Camp

Enroll in Color Guard Camp and Summer Music Experience for a reduced price of $175

Description
This co-ed camp gives participants a look into what it takes to be a member of the Moeller Color Guard and the Moeller Winter Guard with a special focus on dance, flag work, and body movement. Working alongside staff and members of the Moeller/MND Band, campers will work with the traditional equipment of color guard – flags, rifles, and sabers. Never done guard before? No problem! Try something different! The week will culminate with a performance open to families on Friday morning.

Campers who register for both Color Guard and Summer Music Experience are permitted to remain at Moeller for lunch under the guidance of camp counselors and will be escorted from Color Guard Camp to lunch to Summer Music Experience Camp. Campers must bring their own lunch.

Summer Music Experience Camp

Enroll in Color Guard Camp and Summer Music Experience for a reduced price of $175

Description
This camp is open to boys and girls who have at least one year of band or private music lesson experience. Woodwind, brass, string, piano and percussion player are all welcome! Working alongside staff and members of the Moeller/MND Band, campers will prepare musical selections (both current and traditional) while learning techniques that will push them to become better musicians. Participants will work as a team, practice like professionals and use state-of-the-art technology. The week will culminate with a performance open to families on Friday afternoon.

Campers who register for both Color Guard and Summer Music Experience are permitted to remain at Moeller for lunch under the guidance of camp counselors and will be escorted from Color Guard Camp to lunch to Summer Music Experience Camp. Campers must bring their own lunch.
