Support Our Students and Receive a Tax Credit
Are you an Ohio resident who pays state taxes? You have a unique opportunity to support the young women of Mount Notre Dame and receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit through our MND Scholarship Granting Organization (MND SGO). A donation to the MND SGO is not just a deduction—it’s a tax credit that directly reduces the amount you owe in Ohio state taxes.

Making a donation to the MND SGO supports the empowerment of all young women attending MND while giving you a benefit as well.

Any Ohio resident who pays state taxes can claim the credit, whether filing individually or jointly as a couple.

No. Donating to MND-SGO provides you with a tax credit, not a tax deduction.
The State of Ohio limits the tax credit to the lesser of $750 (single) or $1,500 (married filing joint) or your total State of Ohio tax liability as reported on your Ohio Form IT-1040. In this scenario, the Ohio tax credit would be limited to $1,100.
Please note that this is a non-refundable tax credit, and if your Ohio tax liability is less than your contribution, you will only receive a credit from the State of Ohio up to the amount of your contribution (capped at $750 dollars per person/$1,500 per married couple) or your tax liability — whichever is lower. However, since the MND-SGO is registered with the IRS as a 501(c)3 charity under federal tax laws, any contribution in excess of what you claim as a credit on your Ohio return may be eligible for a Federal tax deduction. Consult with your tax advisor for additional details.
Starting in 2027, Ohio can contribute to SGO and receive a tax credit on their federal tax return.
