SGO – Scholarship Granting Organization
Support Our Students and Receive a Tax Credit
Are you an Ohio resident who pays state taxes? You have a unique opportunity to support the young women of Mount Notre Dame and receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit through our MND Scholarship Granting Organization (MND SGO). A donation to the MND SGO is not just a deduction—it’s a tax credit that directly reduces the amount you owe in Ohio state taxes.

Empower Her Future. Donate Today.
Making a donation to the MND SGO supports the empowerment of all young women attending MND while giving you a benefit as well.
Frequently Asked Questions
MND-SGO is a way for you to redirect state income tax dollars that you already owe to Mount Notre Dame. Ohio taxpayers can give up to $750, or $1500 for couples filing jointly, and receive that same amount as a tax credit.
- Make a donation to Mount Notre Dame through the Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) page.
- When you file your Ohio state taxes, claim your tax credit of up to $750 (for individuals) or $1,500 (for couples) using the paperwork sent to you through USPS by MND.
- Your gift will help provide scholarships and financial aid to students, ensuring that more young women can benefit from a faith based, academically rigorous education that empowers them to learn, live, lead, and serve.
The date you file your taxes, up to April 15th.
A tax credit directly reduces the amount of state taxes you owe, rather than just reducing your taxable income. This means your gift is essentially cost-free up to the credit limit!
Any Ohio resident who pays state taxes can claim the credit, whether filing individually or jointly as a couple.
Your gift will be used to provide scholarships and financial assistance to deserving students at Mount Notre Dame.
Donating to MND-SGO provides you with a tax credit, not a tax deduction.
The State of Ohio limits the tax credit to the lesser of $750 (single) or $1,500 (married filing joint) or your total State of Ohio tax liability as reported on your Ohio Form IT-1040. In this scenario, the Ohio tax credit would be limited to $1,100.
Please note that this is a non-refundable tax credit, and if your Ohio tax liability is less than your contribution, you will only receive a credit from the State of Ohio up to the amount of your contribution (capped at $750 dollars per person/$1,500 per married couple) or your tax liability — whichever is lower. However, since the MND-SGO is registered with the IRS as a 501(c)3 charity under federal tax laws, any contribution in excess of what you claim as a credit on your Ohio return may be eligible for a Federal tax deduction. Consult with your tax advisor for additional details.
As of right now, this tax credit cannot be used on federal taxes. There is potential that starting January 1, 2027, there will be SGO on the federal level.
