Developing Information Literate Young Women
The Library/Media Center is an integral part of Mount Notre Dame. It is staffed by a certified Library/Media Specialist. The Library/Media Center supports and enriches the curriculum of the school by providing materials, services, resources and equipment to students and staff.
A positive friendly environment, conducive to study and research, is maintained. Individual instruction as well as group presentations are available in order to help students become more “information literate,” as defined by the American Association of School Librarians:
The student who is information literate:
• Accesses information efficiently and effectively;
• Evaluates information critically and competently;
• Uses information accurately and creatively.
Print and electronic resources are selected to support all areas of the curriculum as well as to foster a love of reading and learning. Students are able to access the MND card catalog, ebooks and electronic research databases from both school and home.
The Mount Notre Dame Library/Media Center strives to send its students to college well prepared to meet the demands of higher level research and learning.
