Summer Camps 2021

Summer is exciting at MND! Mount Notre Dame offers an excellent summer program – something for everyone! We have over 30 different camps in a variety of different areas – sports, theatre, art, science, music, study skills, leadership, and many more.   Scroll down to explore all of our options.

Mount Notre Dame reserves the right to limit camp size and to cancel camps as deemed appropriate. If MND must cancel a camp, registrants will be notified and will receive a refund. In all other cases, registrations are final and no refunds will be given. See the camp descriptions below for details.

The safety of our campers and camp instructors is paramount.  MND camps will comply with COVID-19 safety guidelines.  Parents of registered campers will receive specific guidelines and protocols prior to each camp.

Mount Notre Dame Basketball Camps are run by MND’s Head Varsity Coach, Scott Rogers.  In 14 years of coaching at MND (13 years Head Varsity Coach, 1-year Assistant Head Varsity), we have earned 13 GGCL championships and 5 Division 1 State championships.   All success is due to our tradition of faith, family and one big heart, our great coaches and committed players.  Basic skills such as shooting, passing, ball handling, footwork and defense will be covered daily.  Team defense and offense will also be taught at camp.  Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt.  Registration needs to be completed by June 14 in order to guarantee the camper’s t-shirt size.

Description
MND Elite Camp is designed for the players that are playing competitive grades 7 and 8 basketball.  The camp is for the more experienced player who would like to take their skills to the next level and above.  Coach Rogers will teach competitive drills and games.  This camp is not for beginning players.

CAMP 04: May 26 & 27, 2021 | 7 – 9 PM

Description
The Incoming Freshman Basketball Camp is training designed for the incoming freshmen (Class of 2025) who are interested in playing basketball in high school.  Mount Notre Dame Varsity Basketball Coach Scott Rogers and Freshman Basketball Coach Grayson FitzHugh will run the camp.  They will teach skills, techniques and strategies needed to be successful at the high school level.  Each camper will receive a t-shirt.

Coach Rogers has coached at MND for 14 years (13 years Head Varsity Coach, 1-year Assistant Head Varsity), we have achieved 13 GGCL championships and 5 Division 1 State championships.   All success is due to our tradition of faith, family and one big heart, our great coaches and committed players.

Coach FitzHugh has been the freshman head coach for 14 seasons. His teams have won 235 games and have won 85 percent of their games, including two undefeated seasons.

Description
MND’s golf coaches are partnering with former LPGA Tour player and golf teaching pro Victoria Elizabeth to offer a 2-day golf clinic for golfers of all skill levels this year.  New players will experience the fundamentals of the full swing, short game, rules & etiquette.    Intermediate players will have the opportunity to work on improving their swings and short game skills.  The clinic will be held at Swing Fit Golf Club (11125 Kenwood Road, Blue Ash, OH).  Participants should wear golf-appropriate attire and bring their own clubs.

Maximum of 12 participants, a 1:4, coach to student ratio.

Description
This camp is for girls of all skill levels interested in Lacrosse. MND Head Coach Sara Kuhlman along with the rest of the Lacrosse Coaching staff and student assistants will focus on the fundamentals and technical skills needed to progress to a competitive level. Skills include: catching, throwing, ground balls, shooting, footwork, and improving lacrosse IQ. Included in the camp are fun activities, awards and competition every day. Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt.

Athletes should bring a lacrosse stick, lacrosse goggles, mouth guard, and water.

MND’s Soccer Program is hosting a youth camp run by current MND players and coaches.  This MND Soccer Camp will take place on the field located on the campus of Mount Notre Dame.   It will be led by Varsity Head Coach Kiersten Johnson, her assistant coaches and current MND soccer players.  This camp will provide girls in grades 3 – 5 with opportunities to improve their skills, make new friends and have fun.  Athletes should wear cleats and shin guards and bring a pumped soccer ball and water bottle.

Description
The Incoming Freshman Volleyball Camp is designed for the incoming freshman (Class of 2025) who is interested in trying out for a high school volleyball team.  The camper does not have to be enrolled in MND’s Class of 2025 to attend.  This camp will focus on the fundamental skills of volleyball.  It will also prepare the athlete for the upcoming high school tryouts.  It is geared toward the serious volleyball player.  Athletes will be challenged as they participate in high school level drills.  It is a great experience prior to tryouts.   Mount Notre Dame Varsity Volleyball Coach Michael Crofton and his coaching staff will lead the camp and will teach skills, techniques and strategies needed to be successful at the high school level.  Campers should bring a water bottle.   Each camper will receive a t-shirt.

Get a jump start on your Common App application! This 3 hour session is designed for MND Class of 2022 students to learn about the different sections of the Common App, and get ahead on the application process. Description
Kindergarten to Grade 5: Fun themes and games will be incorporated into each day of the camp. Girls will learn dance technique and three routines in the styles of pom, hip hop, and jazz.

Grades 6-8: Dancers will be participating in our High School Dance Team Prep Camp. Dancers will work on technique and challenging routines in the styles of pom, jazz, and hip hop. Themes and other fun activities will be incorporated into each day of camp.

Camp will include a performance in the MND gym on the last day of camp (July 30).  Guests may be limited due to COVID guidelines.

Ever wonder how to begin building an awesome high school experience full of the types of leadership roles that make memories and impress colleges? MND’s summer leadership camp can give you a blueprint to help navigate your way through the next four years. Have fun while meeting new classmates and current MND student leaders while investigating your own leadership style. Games and activities are designed to cover the following topics: communicating with confidence, dealing with conflict in a positive manner, an introduction to personal branding. Leadership camp will also introduce the class of 2025 to the many clubs, positions, and pathways to becoming a school leader at Mount Notre Dame.

Description
Four days of exploring the media of watercolor, tempera paint, printmaking and collage.  We will look at the artist Georgia O’Keeffe among others and create some work that is similar to some famous artists. This is a hands on camp. Grades 3-8 girls.  Wear clothing appropriate for creating or bring an art shirt or an apron if preferable.

Description
Have you ever wanted to create a webpage on a computer you assembled yourself? This course is a fun, experience-based camp designed for the middle school student using the extremely popular Raspberry Pi 3 computer (included in the cost). No prior programming experience is required. Participants will spend the week completing activities intended to introduce them to modern software development. As software has evolved, the development of software has moved out of the specialized arena of computer science and into the hands of educated users. Example activities include programming with the graphical learning system, Scratch®, programming a Makeblock robot, and developing a simple website using WordPress® (or similar GPL website development tool). Students will be able to keep their Raspberry Pi 3 at the conclusion of the course. Be an educated user!

Description
Embrace your creative potential and join us at MND’s songwriting camp this summer.  MND Music Instructor Mrs. Venia, and MND Social Studies teacher (and former performing musician) Mr. VanOudenallen will help you gain confidence as a songwriter and collaborator as you shape an idea into a tune. It is okay if you are not an expert singer or don’t play an instrument incredibly well because camp sessions are designed to meet you where you are and help to take you to the next level.  You’ll have a fun time learning about song structure, melody, vocal range, and writing a lyric that sings!

The High School Entrance and Placement Test for those eighth graders interested in attending a
Catholic high school in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati is
Saturday, November 20, 2021. 

HSPT Prep Courses
Under the direction of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, Catholic high schools will be administering the traditional High School Placement Test (HSPT) as the high school entrance/placement assessment in November 2021 to all interested eighth grade students who are considering the possibility of attending an area Catholic high school in the ninth grade.  Mount Notre Dame is excited to once again offer this test prep program to eighth grade girls this summer and fall.

Description
Two of MND’s stellar faculty will teach eighth grade girls how to be more confident and prepared for the High School Placement Test (HSPT). During the four-day collaborative course, students will review the test design, learn general standardized test-taking strategies, and explore the test content in an interactive, energetic classroom environment.  Following three days of instruction, students will take a full-length graded practice test on the fourth day of the camp. Students and parents will receive daily updates, and an analysis of practice test results will be provided after the test has been scored. Students must bring a smart phone or Wi-Fi enabled tablet or computer as the camp will utilize interactive websites and tools.  Fee includes textbook and MND spirit gear.  Note:  this in an in-person, on-campus course.  Summer and Fall camps also include a FREE Refresher Course
on Saturday, November 13, 2021 9:00 am – 11:00 am (available to any student who completed an HSPT Prep Class at MND).

Description
Students learn the basics of what it takes to be a member of the Moeller/MND Color Guard, which competes as part of the Moeller/MND Marching Band.  Dance, flag work, and body movement will be the main concentrations, though other equipment and techniques will be covered. Challenge yourself to do something fun, expressive, and DIFFERENT. This camp is open to girls and boys. No experience is necessary.

Description
This camp is open to boys and girls who have at least one year of band or private music lesson experience. Working side by side with members and staff of the Moeller/MND Band, students will prepare musical selections (both current and traditional) while learning tips, tricks, and techniques that will help them discover how to practice like professionals, get their hands on state of the art technology, and put on a great show for you on Friday afternoon. Woodwind, brass, string, piano, and percussion players are all welcome.
